Mme Rigolotte, always in to elevate the magic of early years.

You may not see them every day, but you are part of their inner circle. Maybe it is your grandchild, niece, nephew, or a friend’s child. When you get time together, you want it to feel meaningful. You want to connect.

But you are not sure how.

If so, our sessions are just what you may need!

What to expect with our 1:1 sessions

Our 1:1 sessions will guide you to pause, observe, and understand a child’s thinking so you can create more meaningful connections.

Each session is tailored to YOUR situation, i.e., your relationship with the child, your goals, and the time you have together. We use the wooden Fellows as playful guides to unlock new ways of seeing and being with young children.

All sessions are 1:1, 45-minute online sessions. We strongly believe that cost should never be a barrier to meaningful connection. If the session fee feels out of reach, please reach out. We will work something out together. The wooden Fellows and I are committed to making these sessions accessible to everyone who needs them.

Will I meet the wooden Fellows?

Each session is facilitated by Frédérique, founder of Giggles and Chisels, LLC, but yes, the wooden Fellows will pop up, of course.

Our team, as of June 2025!

Frédérique has worked in early childhood for over 15 years and loved exploring early mathematics through picturebooks during her doctoral studies. She has a deep admiration for young children’s fascinating ways of thinking and loves sharing her passion for those young minds. She created the wooden Fellows to help people slow down, notice, and deepen their connection with young children while also rediscovering their own inner child.

Who is it for?

These sessions are especially relevant for adults who may be visiting or hosting a young child. Although parents are, of course, more than welcome, we want to acknowledge their busy schedules and the resources they may already have. By contrast, adults hosting/visiting a young often want to make the most of their limited time together but may want guidance to connect quickly and meaningfully. Our sessions are designed to meet that need, guiding everyone to engage fully and joyfully with a young child in the time they have.

FAQ

Do I need to be tech-savvy? Nope! Sessions are held over Zoom (or your preferred platform). If you can make a video call, you are all set. If you prefer in person session and are in the Chapel Hill area (NC), we can also make this happen!

What if I don’t know much about early childhood education? That is exactly why we designed our sessions and why we meet beforehand! No experience needed, just a desire to connect more deeply.

What ages do you work with? These sessions are designed for adults connecting with children  under 8.

Examples of what we could build together

–> Explore child development and learn how to deepen connections with a young child through listening, pauses, and meaningful questions

Session #2: How to use picturebooks to enter into a young child’s thinking

–> Discover the power of picturebooks to better notice children’s ideas and elevate their thought processes through shared reading experiences

Session #5: How to invent stories
